Pedestal spacing depends on the joist material, joist size and the decking system being installed.
Always follow the spacing and span recommendations provided by your decking or joist manufacturer, as requirements can vary between products and applications.
The quantity required depends on your project size, joist spacing and the spacing between pedestals along each joist.
Because deck layouts, edges, joints and structural requirements can vary, pedestal quantities should be treated as an estimate rather than a fixed number based on area alone.
Always confirm your joist and decking layout before ordering.
Laboratory compression testing recorded 1,250–1,386 kg under full-support loading, depending on the pedestal model and test height.
Load performance varies depending on pedestal height, support position, spacing, substrate and the overall deck structure. These figures are laboratory test results and should not be treated as the recommended working load for every installation.
For commercial or high-load applications, the complete supporting structure should be assessed as part of the project design.
Yes. ElevaDeck pedestals can be installed over suitable waterproof membrane systems and other stable finished surfaces.
For additional protection, an ElevaDeck Base Rubber Pad can be placed beneath each pedestal. The rubber pad helps cushion the contact point, improve grip, distribute load and reduce direct contact between the pedestal base and the membrane surface.
Always follow the waterproof membrane manufacturer's installation and protection requirements.
The wide pedestal base helps distribute the load across a larger contact area.
Where additional protection is required, we recommend using an ElevaDeck Base Rubber Pad between the pedestal and the membrane. It helps reduce abrasion and direct contact while also improving stability and cushioning.
Before installation, ensure the surface is clean and free from sharp debris that could damage the membrane.
Yes. ElevaDeck pedestals are manufactured from UV-stabilised polypropylene and are designed for outdoor raised decking applications.
They are suitable for areas such as decks, balconies, rooftop terraces, patios, courtyards and other outdoor spaces with a suitable supporting substrate.
ElevaDeck pedestals should be installed on a firm, stable and load-bearing surface, such as:
They should not be installed directly onto soft, loose or unstable ground without a suitably prepared supporting base.
Choose the support according to the width of your timber joist:
Once you have selected the correct joist support, choose the pedestal height range that covers your required installation height.
Measure the vertical distance from the finished surface where the pedestal base will sit to the underside of the joist.
The stated ElevaDeck height range refers to the overall assembled pedestal height, including the pedestal base and joist support cradle. These components are already included in the stated height and do not need to be added separately.
Choose a pedestal range that covers your required height while allowing enough adjustment for levelling. If accessories such as a Base Rubber Pad or Base Slope Corrector are installed underneath the pedestal, allow for their additional thickness when calculating the total build-up height.
If the finished surface level varies across the project, more than one pedestal height range may be required.
