Sheltering the Corner Patio at Ainsley Court

When a house is built with an inner corner courtyard and multiple sets of glass doors, it creates a natural hub for outdoor living. But without a roof, that setup has its limits. On hot days, the concrete pad bounces heat straight into the house, and if a shower passes through, you have to rush to pull all those doors shut.
The straightforward fix for this home was a 5 x 4 m Tasman Motorised Wall-Mounted Louvre Roof.
The project at a glance
-
Location: Ainsley Court
-
Model: Tasman motorised wall-mounted louvre roof
-
Size: 5 x 4 m
-
Finish: White powder-coated aluminium
-
Setting: Concrete corner patio connecting two indoor living areas
The wall-mounted advantage
The main benefit of a wall-mounted setup is what’s missing: the back posts.
By attaching the frame directly to the house above the doors, the walkway remains completely clear. There are no uprights to navigate around when stepping outside. By matching the white frame to the home's weatherboards and fascia, the pergola simply looks like a natural extension of the existing roofline.
Bridging the two rooms
Because it sits right in the corner, the 5 x 4 m footprint manages to shelter both the wide bifold doors on the left and the sliding doors leading into the kitchen.
When the motorised louvres are closed tight, it creates a dry transition zone between the two rooms. It acts as a deep awning, keeping the heavy sun off the glass and giving the homeowners the freedom to leave the doors open even if it's drizzling. You can also spot the integrated LED lighting in the closed louvre blades, meaning the patio stays functional when the sun goes down.

Have a set of doors that need some cover?
If you have a concrete patio sitting empty or bifold doors that let in too much heat, a wall-mounted pergola is a very clean way to solve the problem without adding clutter to the ground.
